In December 2002 Christies in London held the auction Important Gold Boxes, Objects of Vertu and Portrait, which included the work A young gentleman, facing right in blue coat with large gold buttons, gold-bordered white waistcoat and frilled cravat, powdered wig en queue by Philip Jean. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,420.35), 39% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Philip Jean have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Paul Sandby (1731-1809), In Blue Coat, White Waistcoat And Cravat, Powdered Hair En Queue, Holding A Pen And Open Book; Landscape Background With Windsor Castle In The Distance in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 42,117.82).

Im Dezember 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Gold Boxes, Objects of Vertu and Portrait durch, in der auch die Arbeit A young gentleman, facing right in blue coat with large gold buttons, gold-bordered white waistcoat and frilled cravat, powdered wig en queue von Philip Jean zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.182,50 (€ 6.420,35) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
