Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman, facing left in grey coat, red waistcoat and white frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue, wearing a breast star and the badge of an Order on an orange ribbon about his neck by Philip Jean was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2002. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,195.00 (€ 1,871.39) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip Jean achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Paul Sandby (1731-1809), In Blue Coat, White Waistcoat And Cravat, Powdered Hair En Queue, Holding A Pen And Open Book; Landscape Background With Windsor Castle In The Distance in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 42,117.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A gentleman, facing left in grey coat, red waistcoat and white frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue, wearing a breast star and the badge of an Order on an orange ribbon about his neck von Philip Jean kam im Mai 2002 bei Christies in London zur Auktion.
