This artwork by Pham Hau achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Hong Kong in November 2021. In the Southeast Asian Modern & Contemporary Art auction, the work Golden Sunset over Halong Bay sold for HKD 9,732,500.00 (€ 1,082,155.36) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 3,800,000.00. This high result makes Golden Sunset over Halong Bay the most expensive artwork by Pham Hau that we have observed at auctions so far.
