Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Allegory Of Love by Peter Wtewael was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in Amsterdam in November 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 30,750.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Wtewael - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Soldiers playing cards by candlelight, which sold at auction in December 2004 for GBP 77,675.00 (€ 109,931.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Allegory Of Love von Peter Wtewael wurde im November 2008 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Sothebys in Amsterdam versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 30.750,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Peter Wtewael mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Soldiers playing cards by candlelight beobachtet, die im Dezember 2004 für GBP 77.675,00 (€ 109.931,53) versteigert wurde.
