Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A Jester Holding A Flute by Peter Wtewael was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in Amsterdam in December 2009. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 25,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 28,350.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Wtewael - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Soldiers playing cards by candlelight, which sold at auction in December 2004 for GBP 77,675.00 (€ 109,931.53).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A Jester Holding A Flute von Peter Wtewael wurde im Dezember 2009 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Sothebys in Amsterdam versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 25.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 28.350,00 einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Peter Wtewael mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Soldiers playing cards by candlelight beobachtet, die im Dezember 2004 für GBP 77.675,00 (€ 109.931,53) versteigert wurde.
