Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Goatherd With A Bagpipe And His Mastiff, In A Landscape With Goats Beyond by Peter Wtewael was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,654.26). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Wtewael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Soldiers playing cards by candlelight in December 2004 with an auction result of GBP 77,675.00 (€ 109,931.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Goatherd With A Bagpipe And His Mastiff, In A Landscape With Goats Beyond von Peter Wtewael im Juli 2016 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.654,26) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Wtewael erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Soldiers playing cards by candlelight im Dezember 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 77.675,00 (€ 109.931,53).
