Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Geese, ducks and other birds on a pond with houses in the distance by Pieter Withoos was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,673.00 (€ 1,343.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Withoos achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Studies Of Insects, Including Two Long-Horned Beetles (Batocera Octomaculata And Eurycephalus Maxillosus), A Nine-Spotted Moth (Amata Phegea), A Yellow-Shell Butterfly (Camptogramma Bilineata) And A Bumblebee (Bombus Hortorum) in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 24,703.50).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.673,00 (€ 1.343,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
