Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work A Young Gentleman, In Gold-Bordered Moss-Coloured Coat, Lace Cravat, Hair En Queue by Peter Paul Lens for GBP 384.00 (€ 569.84). This price was achieved in the auction Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Paul Lens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young gentleman wearing a black tricorn hat adorned with plumes, full face in silver-bordered red coat with slashed sleeves and silver frogging; purple curtain background in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 14,100.00 (€ 23,045.89).
