Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young gentleman in a scarlet coat, white shirt and fair hair by Peter Paul Lens was sold in the At Home - Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Irish, Scot auction at Christies in London in October 2004. The price achieved of GBP 298.75 (€ 429.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 250.00 – 350.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Paul Lens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young gentleman wearing a black tricorn hat adorned with plumes, full face in silver-bordered red coat with slashed sleeves and silver frogging; purple curtain background in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 14,100.00 (€ 23,045.89).
