This artwork by Peter Paillou achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2000. In the IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU auction, the work A young officer, facing right in scarlet coat with green facings, gold lace loops and epaulettes, white shoulder belt bearing rectangular gilt plate, frilled cravat sold for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,880.74) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Paillou - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Cockerel, which sold at auction in July 2011 for GBP 6,500.00 (€ 7,459.72).

Für andere Arbeiten von Peter Paillou mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Cockerel beobachtet, die im Juli 2011 für GBP 6.500,00 (€ 7.459,72) versteigert wurde.
