This artwork by Peter Oliver achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2019. In the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures Part II auction, the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1615 sold for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 17,841.42) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Peter Oliver; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Lady Anne Clifford, Later Countess Of Pembroke (1590-1676), Circa 1620 sold at auction in December 2018 with the realized price of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,067.00).
