PETER HUJAR (1934-1987) Bearded Man on Park Bench titled and dated 'Bearded Man on Park Bench 1981' (on the reverse); signed by Stephen Koch, Executor of the Peter Hujar Estate and stamped 'PRINTED BY THE ARTIST', estate stamp and copyright credit (on the reverse) gelatin silver print 14 1 ⁄ 2 x 14 1 ⁄ 2 in. (36.8 x 36.8 cm.) Executed in 1981.
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Bearded Man on Park Bench by Peter Hujar was auctioned at Christies in New York in December last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 16,380.00 (€ 15,311.27). Admittedly, works by Peter Hujar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work David Wojnarowicz Reclining (II) in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 157,500.00 (€ 136,340.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Bearded Man on Park Bench von Peter Hujar kam im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 16.380,00 (€ 15.311,27) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Hujar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit David Wojnarowicz Reclining (II) im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 157.500,00 (€ 136.340,03).
