Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young gentleman, in pale coloured cloak, white lace cravat, full-bottomed brown wig by Peter Cross was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2008. It changed hands for a price of GBP 750.00 (€ 787.72) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Cross achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young gentleman erroneously called Duke of Monmouth, facing left in grey coat, lace jabot and blue cloak over his right shoulder, full bottomed wig in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 19,975.00 (€ 32,648.35).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 750,00 (€ 787,72) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Cross erzielen.
