However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Cross - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A young gentleman erroneously called Duke of Monmouth, facing left in grey coat, lace jabot and blue cloak over his right shoulder, full bottomed wig, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 19,975.00 (€ 32,648.35).
