Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Private View Day. Reign of Charles II; and an unstretched canvas of a similar subject by Paul Wyeth was worth GBP 2,640.00 (€ 3,829.30) to a buyer in July 2005. This price was achieved in the auction The Sunday Picture Sale - British and Continental oils, at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 800.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Paul Wyeth; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot At the fair sold at auction in June 2002 with the realized price of GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,088.88).
