The work The Silent Country #2, The River by Paul Sample was sold in the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in July 2002. The »bidding war« ended at USD 21,510.00 (€ 21,957.94), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Paul Sample have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Good Farming--Good Living in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 241,000.00 (€ 164,079.52).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 21.510,00 (€ 21.957,94) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul Sample auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Good Farming--Good Living im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 241.000,00 (€ 164.079,52).
