Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Devon Horse Show by Paul Sample was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 31,070.00 (€ 22,950.21). Admittedly, works by Paul Sample have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Good Farming--Good Living in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 241,000.00 (€ 164,079.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Devon Horse Show von Paul Sample im Dezember 2004 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 31.070,00 (€ 22.950,21) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul Sample auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Good Farming--Good Living im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 241.000,00 (€ 164.079,52).
