Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Snow Capped Mountains (possibly Scheidegg, Germany) 12 x 16 in. unframed by Paul Dougherty was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,216.00 (€ 1,114.78). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Dougherty achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Majestic Coast in August 2021 with an auction result of USD 44,062.50 (€ 37,341.10).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Snow Capped Mountains (possibly Scheidegg, Germany) 12 x 16 in. unframed von Paul Dougherty im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.216,00 (€ 1.114,78) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul Dougherty erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Majestic Coast im August 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.062,50 (€ 37.341,10).
