The »bidding war« ended at GBP 24,130.00 (€ 28,083.17), 34% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Patrick Caulfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Foyer in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 665,000.00 (€ 784,634.62).

Die Arbeit Some Poems of Jules Laforgue (C. 38) von Patrick Caulfield wurde im Juni diesen Jahres in der Auktion Evening & Day Editions bei Phillips in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 24.130,00 (€ 28.083,17) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Patrick Caulfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Foyer im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 665.000,00 (€ 784.634,62).
