In June this year Phillips in London held the auction Evening & Day Editions, which included the work Black and White Cafe, from Rothko Memorial Portfolio (C. 31) by Patrick Caulfield. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,540.00 (€ 2,956.12), 69% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Patrick Caulfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Foyer in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 665,000.00 (€ 784,634.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 69 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion Evening & Day Editions durch, in der auch die Arbeit Black and White Cafe, from Rothko Memorial Portfolio (C. 31) von Patrick Caulfield zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.540,00 (€ 2.956,12) und damit 69% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Patrick Caulfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Foyer im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 665.000,00 (€ 784.634,62).
