In July this year Christies in Paris held the auction First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, which included the work Witness to the Times II by Patrick Akpojotor. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,700.38), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Patrick Akpojotor - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Everyday Hero I, which sold at auction in March 2021 for GBP 32,500.00 (€ 38,179.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies in Paris die Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Witness to the Times II von Patrick Akpojotor zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 12.600,00 (€ 14.700,38) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Patrick Akpojotor mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Everyday Hero I beobachtet, die im März 2021 für GBP 32.500,00 (€ 38.179,13) versteigert wurde.
