The work Venus and Cupid by Paris Bordone was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Christies in New York in May 2005. The »bidding war« ended at USD 108,000.00 (€ 87,456.47), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paris Bordone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Believed To Be Of The Fugger Family, Standing Three-Quarter Length Within A Palace Interior, Wearing A Crimson Satin Dress And Holding A Prayer-Book In Her Right Hand in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 914,850.00 (€ 1,162,327.22).
