Sold at the lower estimate price
The work Pluto Abducting Persephone by Paolo Farinati was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 23,079.76) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paolo Farinati - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ecce Homo, which sold at auction in July 2006 for GBP 54,000.00 (€ 79,049.67).
