Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Schräger Kopf Ii by Oskar Schlemmer was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at EUR 12,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oskar Schlemmer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tischgesellschaft (Group At Table) in February 2019 with an auction result of GBP 2,595,000.00 (€ 3,027,157.92).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Schräger Kopf Ii von Oskar Schlemmer im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 12.500,00 mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Oskar Schlemmer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tischgesellschaft (Group At Table) im Februar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.595.000,00 (€ 3.027.157,92).
