Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Primary Forest 02, Lake, Malaysia 10/2012, Altitude 240 m, 2012 by Olaf Otto Becker was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 420.46). Other works by Olaf Otto Becker have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2018 by the work Greenland, Ilulissat Icefjord, 07/2003, 69°11’50’’N, 51°12’54’’, 2003 at GBP 625.00 (€ 700.76).
