Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Ogata Gekko could be acquired at Christies in New York in September 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Shoki zu (Shoki; the demon queller) changed hands for USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,318.66) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ogata Gekko have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Unknown in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 5,400.00 (€ 7,832.65).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ogata Gekko konnte im September 2007 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wechselte die Arbeit Shoki zu (Shoki; the demon queller) für USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.318,66) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ogata Gekko auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Unknown im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.400,00 (€ 7.832,65).
