Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Abstract City by Norman Lewis was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Phillips in New York in June 2021. It changed hands for a price of USD 1,119,000.00 (€ 944,463.20) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Norman Lewis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ritual, which sold at auction in November 2019 for USD 2,780,000.00 (€ 2,522,914.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Abstract City von Norman Lewis wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 1.119.000,00 (€ 944.463,20) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 800.000,00 – 1.200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Norman Lewis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Ritual beobachtet, die im November 2019 für USD 2.780.000,00 (€ 2.522.914,97) versteigert wurde.
