Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Rest on the Flight into Egypt by Nicolas Poussin was sold in the Old Masters Part I auction at Christies in London in December this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 630,000.00 (€ 725,735.85) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolas Poussin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Baptism Of Christ, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 1,815,000.00 (€ 2,145,117.57).

Die Arbeit The Rest on the Flight into Egypt von Nicolas Poussin wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Masters Part I bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 630.000,00 (€ 725.735,85) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Nicolas Poussin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Baptism Of Christ beobachtet, die im Dezember 2019 für GBP 1.815.000,00 (€ 2.145.117,57) versteigert wurde.
