Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work Narcissus Gazing At His Reflection And Cupid Shooting An Arrow, In A Landscape by Nicolas Poussin. Here, the upper estimate of USD 600,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 680,000.00 (€ 612,999.19). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolas Poussin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Baptism Of Christ, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 1,815,000.00 (€ 2,145,117.57).
