Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2003 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Pictures, which included the work The Holy Family with Saint John the Baptist by Nicolas Poussin. The price achieved of GBP 565,250.00 (€ 800,602.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicolas Poussin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Baptism Of Christ, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 1,815,000.00 (€ 2,145,117.57).

Im Dezember 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Holy Family with Saint John the Baptist von Nicolas Poussin zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 565.250,00 (€ 800.602,56) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Nicolas Poussin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Baptism Of Christ beobachtet, die im Dezember 2019 für GBP 1.815.000,00 (€ 2.145.117,57) versteigert wurde.
