Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a breast plate, a plumed helmet in his right hand, in a landscape by Nicolaes Maes was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 13,948.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaes Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,149,543.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a breast plate, a plumed helmet in his right hand, in a landscape von Nicolaes Maes wurde im Juli 2017 in der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert.
