Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Elijah and the angel in the desert by Nicolaes Maes was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in February 2024. The price achieved of USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,404.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaes Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,149,543.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Elijah and the angel in the desert von Nicolaes Maes wurde im Februar 2024 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.404,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicolaes Maes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 792.000,00 (€ 1.149.543,66).
