Upper estimate price exceeded by 55 %.
In December this year Bonhams in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, holding a pair of gloves by Nicolaes Maes. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,880.00 (€ 12,533.34), 55% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolaes Maes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 792,000.00 (€ 1,149,543.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 55 % übertroffen
Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, holding a pair of gloves von Nicolaes Maes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.880,00 (€ 12.533,34) und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicolaes Maes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Group portrait of a family in an Italianate garden with an ornate fountain im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 792.000,00 (€ 1.149.543,66).
