In March this year Christies in New York held the auction First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, which included the work Testa Solenne (Solemn Head) by Nicola de Maria. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,710.00 (€ 12,184.69), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicola de Maria achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Regno dei fiori in October 2001 with an auction result of GBP 108,250.00 (€ 174,947.79).

Im März diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Testa Solenne (Solemn Head) von Nicola de Maria zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.710,00 (€ 12.184,69) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicola de Maria erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Regno dei fiori im Oktober 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 108.250,00 (€ 174.947,79).
