Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Nicholas Pocock achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in April this year. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work The Formidable breaking the French line at the Battle of the Saintes, 1782 sold for GBP 82,200.00 (€ 93,681.20) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 35,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Nicholas Pocock; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Admiral Rodney's flagship H.M.S. Formidable, 98-guns, breaking the line, at the beginning of the Battle of the Saintes, 12th April 1782 sold at auction in May 2012 with the realized price of GBP 145,250.00 (€ 180,975.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Nicholas Pocock erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Marine Sale wurde die Arbeit The Formidable breaking the French line at the Battle of the Saintes, 1782 für GBP 82.200,00 (€ 93.681,20) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 35.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Nicholas Pocock; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Admiral Rodney's flagship H.M.S.
