Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Captain Halliday of H.M.S. Repulse saving H.M.S. Philomel from capture by the French off Toulon, 31st August 1810 by Nicholas Pocock was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2011. The price achieved of GBP 437.50 (€ 510.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicholas Pocock achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Admiral Rodney's flagship H.M.S. Formidable, 98-guns, breaking the line, at the beginning of the Battle of the Saintes, 12th April 1782 in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 145,250.00 (€ 180,975.11).

Philomel from capture by the French off Toulon, 31st August 1810 von Nicholas Pocock kam im November 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 437,50 (€ 510,74) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicholas Pocock erzielen.
