Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A fleet of East Indiamen wearing in succession ahead of a gale by Nicholas Pocock was auctioned at Bonhams in London in October last year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 20,400.00 (€ 23,765.77). Admittedly, works by Nicholas Pocock have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Admiral Rodney's flagship H.M.S. Formidable, 98-guns, breaking the line, at the beginning of the Battle of the Saintes, 12th April 1782 in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 145,250.00 (€ 180,975.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A fleet of East Indiamen wearing in succession ahead of a gale von Nicholas Pocock kam im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 20.400,00 (€ 23.765,77) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nicholas Pocock auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Admiral Rodney's flagship H.M.S. Formidable, 98-guns, breaking the line, at the beginning of the Battle of the Saintes, 12th April 1782 im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 145.250,00 (€ 180.975,11).
