In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with the Polar Sale Including The Amundsen Collection, which included the work The entrance to the bay of Rio de Janeiro with Laje island and the Sugar Loaf by Nicholas Pocock. The result of GBP 12,000.00 (€ 17,702.53) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 12,000.00 – 16,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicholas Pocock achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Admiral Rodney's flagship H.M.S. Formidable, 98-guns, breaking the line, at the beginning of the Battle of the Saintes, 12th April 1782 in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 145,250.00 (€ 180,975.11).

Im September 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel with the Polar Sale Including The Amundsen Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit The entrance to the bay of Rio de Janeiro with Laje island and the Sugar Loaf von Nicholas Pocock zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 12.000,00 (€ 17.702,53) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 16.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicholas Pocock erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Admiral Rodney's flagship H.M.S. Formidable, 98-guns, breaking the line, at the beginning of the Battle of the Saintes, 12th April 1782 im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 145.250,00 (€ 180.975,11).
