Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures Part II, which included the work Portrait Of Sir George Wakeman (D. 1688) by Nicholas Dixon. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,293.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicholas Dixon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of James, Duke Of York, Later James Ii, King Of England (1633-1701), Circa 1665, which sold at auction in December 2018 for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,889.16).
