Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Nakamura Fukusuke V (1900-1933) as an onnagata in the play Katsuragawa renri no Shigarami, 1928 by Natori Shunsen was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 480.00 (€ 358.91). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Natori Shunsen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sosaku hanga shunsen nigao-e gashu (Creative prints: collected portrait-pictures by Shunsen) in March 2001 with an auction result of USD 25,850.00 (€ 29,395.04).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Nakamura Fukusuke V (1900-1933) as an onnagata in the play Katsuragawa renri no Shigarami, 1928 von Natori Shunsen im März 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 480,00 (€ 358,91) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Natori Shunsen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sosaku hanga shunsen nigao-e gashu (Creative prints: collected portrait-pictures by Shunsen) im März 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.850,00 (€ 29.395,04).
