In July 2019 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Portrait of Nicolaes Gael (1565-1638), three-quarter length, standing by a table with a book by Michiel van Mierevelt. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,000.00 (€ 21,958.67), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michiel van Mierevelt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Jan van der Haer (1609-1665), half-length, in a black silk doublet with cutwork, edged with black lace; and Portrait of Levina Ockers (1607-1678), half-length, in a black dress with a double layered lace-trimmed ruff and jewelled collar, which sold at auction in May 2014 for EUR 79,500.00.
