Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Portrait Of Johan Ernst Van Nassau Siegen (1582–1617), Half-Length, Wearing Armour With A Pink Sash And Ruff by Michiel van Mierevelt. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,527.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Michiel van Mierevelt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Jan van der Haer (1609-1665), half-length, in a black silk doublet with cutwork, edged with black lace; and Portrait of Levina Ockers (1607-1678), half-length, in a black dress with a double layered lace-trimmed ruff and jewelled collar in May 2014 with an auction result of EUR 79,500.00.
