Auction result well in line with expectations
The work I Thought He Might Be a Friend of Yours by Michael Cline was sold in the Under the Influence auction at Phillips in New York in March 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,125.00 (€ 2,203.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael Cline - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Free Turn, which sold at auction in October 2020 for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,829.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit I Thought He Might Be a Friend of Yours von Michael Cline wurde im März 2011 in der Auktion Under the Influence bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.125,00 (€ 2.203,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Michael Cline mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Free Turn beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.829,68) versteigert wurde.
