Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Abstract by Merlyn Evans. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,900.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Merlyn Evans have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Time King (Vertical Abstraction No. 2) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 33,750.00 (€ 39,630.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Abstract von Merlyn Evans zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.900,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Merlyn Evans auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Time King (Vertical Abstraction No. 2) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 33.750,00 (€ 39.630,75).
