In July 2015 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work A Cockerel, A Turkey, Hens And Chickens In A Farmyard by Melchior d'Hondecoeter. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 209,000.00 (€ 296,291.80), 74% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Melchior d'Hondecoeter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,203,426.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 74 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2015 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Cockerel, A Turkey, Hens And Chickens In A Farmyard von Melchior d'Hondecoeter zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 209.000,00 (€ 296.291,80) und damit 74% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melchior d'Hondecoeter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.650.500,00 (€ 1.203.426,90).
