Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Exotic Fowl, Including A Peacock And Peahen, Flamingo, African Crane, Pheasant, And Lapwing, Shoveller, Pelican And Tufted Duck by Melchior d'Hondecoeter was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 151,200.00 (€ 123,995.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Melchior d'Hondecoeter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,203,426.90).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 123.995,41) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
