It achieved a price of USD 100,800.00 (€ 83,065.51), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 26%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Melchior d'Hondecoeter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,203,426.90).

Die Arbeit Ducks, hens and other fowl in a yard von Melchior d'Hondecoeter kam im Januar 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 100.800,00 (€ 83.065,51) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 26%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Melchior d'Hondecoeter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.650.500,00 (€ 1.203.426,90).
