Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Christies held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work A game still life with a hung hare, a boar's head and a musket in a landscape by Melchior d'Hondecoeter. The price achieved of GBP 113,400.00 (€ 128,017.55) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by Melchior d'Hondecoeter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,203,426.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Christies die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A game still life with a hung hare, a boar's head and a musket in a landscape von Melchior d'Hondecoeter zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 113.400,00 (€ 128.017,55) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melchior d'Hondecoeter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A peacock, a peahen, a monkey and other birds on a terrace im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.650.500,00 (€ 1.203.426,90).
