In June 2010 Christies in London held the auction The Nicolette Wernick Collection British Watercolours and Paintings (1800-1950), which included the work The Church behind by Maxwell Ashby Armfield. The result of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,080.47) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maxwell Ashby Armfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Madison Square Park, New York in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 151,362.87).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juni 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Nicolette Wernick Collection British Watercolours and Paintings (1800-1950) durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Church behind von Maxwell Ashby Armfield zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 6.080,47) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maxwell Ashby Armfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Madison Square Park, New York im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 102.000,00 (€ 151.362,87).
