Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Man by Maurice Tabard was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,750.00 (€ 1,486.33). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Tabard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Punu Mask, Solarised Film, 1936 in May 2015 with an auction result of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 52,139.80).
